Indeed. I recall us coming up with lists of what we approved or disapproved about him. Rational lists. The guy had pros and cons. Imagine that! <g>

The dynamics of our current hostile partisan atmosphere generate a divisive downward spiral. Some Bush hater makes an outrageous attack, some Republican feels obligated to make an exaggerated defense, and the next thing you know is that Bush is either Hitler or "his shit don't stink." In that environment, anyone who poses the slightest legitimate criticism in the company of the outraged defender is perceived as a Bush hater. It's a nasty, nasty phenomenon.

The spiral is breaking down a bit now as supporters are falling away. I haven't seen signs yet that the Bush haters are losing a lot of steam. Hopefully that will follow.
