I didn't say that government imposed smoking bans on private property are not within the realm of reason, just that they are something that I am against in principle.

As for the segregated lunch counters - Well I'm also against racism in principle, but I think its an injustice to force people, even racists, to force people to associate with and do business with people that they don't want to associate with. OTOH I recognize the practical gain from banning this form of racial discrimination. I can see an argument that the practical gain was worth the moderate level of injustice, I do however have a problem with arguments that just ignore the injustice, or claim that this imposition is just.
