As this foreign affairs discussion group is almost always in an argument about something, I thought I'd post a foreign affair that I hope most will agree is worthy of applause:

William Kamkwamba's Windmill:
williamkamkwamba.typepad.com

A high school drop-out, it turns out William is actually a genius and he built his own windmill to generate electricity. Inspiring, heart-warming story, I think.

A few people I know skipped their daily mocha/latte/coffee/tea fix and put a couple of bucks in his paypal account. (I believe someone in the US set up and maintains his blog.)

I hadn't checked back in a couple of days, but I see now that the Sydney Morning Herald has picked up the story as well as an Italian newspaper, La Republica.

Definitely worth a look and worth spending a few moments reflecting on. (If this has been mentioned here before, apologies for the repeat.)
