An isolationist wouldn't want to trade at all

No, that is too broad. A subset of isolationists wouldn't want to trade at all. The U.S. was isolationist for decades before WWI, but we were still bully on trading. An isolationist lives in the dreamworld where we can trade with the outside world, but have no lasting relationship with any State beyond our borders. Avoiding "entangling alliances" worked in the 18th century, not very well even then, it is downright impossible today.

Not so. Historically, isolationists have wanted to avoid getting into entangling alliances and the wars that go with them. They weren't necessarily opposed to international trade though.

Even when isolationist impulses were combined with protectionist sentiments on imports, they weren't opposed to selling our goods abroad. Nobody anywhere has ever opposed export trade, I don't believe.

Whether you trade with or without treaties is irrelevant.

In an imaginary world where no other nations practice protectionism and there are no internal pressures to enact protectionist policies maybe.

I haven't seen anything yet to indicate Paul is an isolationist. Non-interventionist, but not isolationist.

What would it take to make you think he's isolationist?

I don't think you've got an open mind on this one.
