The republican party today runs on three things: fear, greed and hate. Fear. The whole "war on terror" is fear based. The more the country is sunk in fear, the more profits the war profiteers and military contractors make. Greed. "We're going to cut your taxes" (no matter what effect it has on the deficit or on programs that benefit society in general). This is the quintessential appeal to greed. This has been a republican mainstay for as long as I can remember. Also the cause to privatize the commons is totally greed based. Health care. Oceans of money to be made there, but at a huge cost to the accessibility of care. Public utilities: Water will be only for those who can afford it. Hate. Republicans just can't stand the attitude of live and let live. No they have to make sure that people that choose alternate lifestyles are suitably punished. "Gays have no rights in their relationships." "We don't have to tolerate affirmative action, or even go to visit with the black caucus". For all their professed support of the troops they are the first in line when it comes to cutting funding or benefits for our troops in harms way and their families, and also to cut away at the medical care they will get when they return. Fear, greed and hate are the three platforms of the republican party. Just listen to any speech given by a republican and you are more than likely to find at least one of them, if not all three. BTW, Jla, I wrote this myself. Let see if for all your insults you can string more than two sentences together in a coherent fashion.
