After living through the depression my father would not buy a residence and take on a mtg. The fear of that never went away.

The richest relative in my family "Doc" (was his nickname?) always said: " I would rather be rich and owe a lot of money, than be poor and owe no one anything-lol."

He owned furniture stores in Bakersfield, and a beautiful ocean front home near San Simion.
