Might be you said no to pay back before so they didn't want to insult you.

I would give my kid money to pay his own way. I'd tell him to buy your kid something with it.

I always made sure my kids had their own money on events like that. It's insane to expect another parent to pick up the whole tab I don't care if it's just going to a movie.

Next time you take them, tell each parent you will buy the ticket, and the kids are to bring some of their allowance for their treat while there.

Then, if you want, you could get something else for them, but by no means would you have to....

Tickets all by themselves, are quite expensive, IMO.

Both hubby and I have done some of that, but we have also learned something along the way.

IF we continue making it easy for kids by paying for everything, some of them come to expect it. We have 4 grown now and in their early 40's. Three of them are totally on their own and then some. We are actually surprised when THEY take us out, and buy dinner, or entertainment...etc. It always is such a treat, because we don't expect it.

BUT one of the four continues to expect it of us.....It's been a bit of a shock to his system lately to find the Bank of Dad and Mom has been recently closed down.
