I'll bet that's the silliest thing you've ever posted on SI.

Arrogance BEGONE!

Arrogance seems like a necessity in order to play the investing game successfully.

Buffet and John Bogle seem pretty humble guys to me and they are very successful investors no?

It was a pursuit of mine to understand why people became arrogant and why after the reasons for that arrogance were gone they still remained arrogant. My study was not relating to stock traders - but young women who grew into shriveled up old hags yet still had the arrogance of a hot 20 year old. I went to college, took many sociology courses and pscyhology courses and biology courses and I came up with a theory - stuff involing axons and dendrons and ego and superego etc etc - now I could be wrong but I think the human brain develops with certain beliefs and expectations that begin to form neural connections - they become reinforced over time and a mature brain is very difficult to "reprogram" IE why the old saying is true - science progresses one funeral at a time. Those established pathways do not wither easily.

So now we have a society of botoxed shriveled stretched old hags that think they are hot 20 year olds and have the attitudes to match. Reversely I have noticed women from my grandmothers generation who were taught to think very little of themselves and be very dependent on a man (which at times was terribly detrimental) and no amount of logic or reasoning seemed to break them of that habit.

Being involved in the stock market any period of time or on the wrong side of a RE downturn should be a humbling/learning experience to counter the arrogant side of the brain<g>

It won't work like you think from my experience Vosilla, like the arrogant woman - their brains and neural connections formed in an environment conducive to their arrogance - even after you change the circumstances - most brains begin to harden and literally crystallize as they age. On the macro scale take what you have posted about before - the depression generation were very very cautious concerning debt - even after all logic dictated later in their lives that debt was OK and even GOOD at times. That is why I think we are doomed in this country - too many idiots have formed beliefs and strong nueral pathways about living la vida loca and no amount of pain is ever going to change them - it will take new humans forming neural connections under a new environment to make a new society.

Maybe you can prove me wrong - I think you should prove you can break the bonds of hate and arrogance and locked in nueral pathways and find it in your heart to forgive Mish and all that anger you harbor towards him because he insulted you. HAHA! I know you are a better man than to keep ridiculing him over the past. I don't see elroy cussing out grace anymore, so maybe there is hope. hehe
