It has basically crumbling infrastructure, that it is uncertain how to replace or maintenance, and that was essentially under-engineered by people who did outhink themselves, and an excessively paranoid and restrictive constabulary with more people incarcerated than any other country in the world. Its cities are collapsing under welfare loads an indigent minorities overbreeding and taking up lawless behaviour in festering cesspools of decaying dangerous communities, and its border are being invaded by armies of citizens who think that the northern climes are a paradise of opportunity. Any attempt to ameliorate these untenable conditions by drastic action where it is obviously needed is met by legal and social paralysis. the USA is headed inexorably towards lower standards of living, higher crime, higher taxes, more social unrest, and social balkanization which will exacerbate social tensions and erode investment confidence and the stability of its economy. The ability of the society and its leaders to take action is steadily being eroded as well by an electorate who mistake demagoguery with intelligent political thought. All empires fall, all civilizations corrode. All people's war and factionalize as the pie gets increasingly unfairly split as it will with excess population growth amongst the lower and lower classes. It cannot end well. In the meantime we survive, lie to ourselves and take ever greater attrition along the edges of the disappearing middle class. The US is not a growing country in any categories except the dangerous ones. EC<:-}
