Oh, you're back and I was just thinking how rude it was of you to slip off without saying good bye.

"I only abandoned my Vietnam analogy because it seemed to make you sad thus making it a distraction. But now that i see everything makes you sad and causes distraction, it's back:

Of course its back, in fact it never went anywhere; just like it was popular for all the WWII uncles to try to squeeze the mindset of their era into the Vietnam war consciousness. It failed, it always fails when you try to draq your romanticized baggage from the past into current realities. Congrats man, it's popular. You're in or God's sake. Yeehaw!

"I don't see how you can call an Iraqi government that needs 150,000 American troops to exist legitimate."

One thing does not discount the other. Everything that is legitimate must be protected and supported.

"But i'm sure you'll explain how this just reveals some character flaw in me...

It's real simple Steve. We are bound in this existence by our resolve to contribute to the well being of all. Conscientious people accept that and seek the well being of one in response to another with liberation from oppressive coercion. Persons who seek an escape from that responsibility are bound in despair and the misery of their selfishness, which drives them in their envy to lash out continually at those living up to the nobility of their birth; but, it will never get them out of anything. Reason fails those who would sacrifice principle and conscience for loyalty to partisan machination. Does that reveal a character flaw? You decide.
