Yes, but long-term unemployment is high, wages are stagnating, and costs that hit the lower and middle classes, such as tuition, health care, food, and gas, are increasing rapidly. Not good.

You know damn well those numbers mask some serious problems.

Didn't you claim one time that our elected officials have the ability to create a mood of optimism in this country? Wouldn't that be "talking up" the economy?

Why then is there little optimism in the country? That's the issue that has so befuddled the GOP. If the economy is doing so well, then optimism should abound in spades. Instead, Americans are more negative then ever.
