left overs.. i always hated mom's new england boiled dinner. but the next night she would warm it up in her heavy very black frying pan. i couldn't get enough of those warmed up veg. i bet she threw butter in there. ha

yesterday, i made the boiled dinner for my wife, she loves it. so easy, just throw in slow cooker, add some water, top off with corn beef brisket. and let it rip for eight to ten hours.. then removed vegs. and add cabbage for another hour or two with the corn beef added back to it. the corn beef came out so tender.

social worker came bye to visit us shortly after the nurse had checked on my wife. She is Russian and spent quite a few years in Israel. she never heard of boiled dinner. i explained it was generated by the poor arriving from Ireland and i expect other eu countries. they could only afford the cheapest vegs and cuts of meat. so they would throw onion, carrots, turnip (rutabaga),potatoes, with brisket and boil it. The social got a crock pot at home and never used it(gift i assume). so it went on her list of things to do before leaving for field visits some morning.
