What would they have said if Hari had mentioned which paper he writes for (the Indie is probably the most LW of the main UK papers, certainly the most campaigning - it's the one Blair singled out in his mildly demented farewell speech). Worse still, what if he'd mentioned he was leftie AND gay...?

If you sat down to write that article as fiction, a bizarre, cruel caricature, I don't think it would have come out much different. Rambi is correct that an insulated bunch of extreme lefties would probably have equally strange results.
