if the victors are Jews, land taken in war in the middle east must always be returned, even if there is no peace to be had. There should be a special footnote in all history books for this fact.

Did we "keep" Germany or Japan? Has any modern nation other than Israel kept the land it's armies have swept over? No. It's too expensive, and too likely to become an insurgent quagmire as in Iraq. The cost/benefit just isn't there. If you keep it, you're RESPONSIBLE for it.

Europe is the perfect example of such a dynamic. Peace is only possible in a newly conquered region (which is what we're talking about here) if you..... a) Anhialate and enslave the population, or b) Broker an agreement for right of return and un-occupy.... a) is not an option although I get the feeling some people here think it should. b) is the only way. Israel wants to control and occupy the land yet is stunned that the displaced population is not particularly enthusiastic about this plan. If peace is what Israel wants then a right of return to an independent Palestinian state is what it needs to let happen. Whether Israel is Jewish, Christian, Islamic or Atheist doesn't matter a toss.......
