I live just north of New Haven, this should be interesting to see how it plays out. Given the influence of Yale and the result of the education there (see Daniel Brook's The Trap: Selling Out to Stay Afloat in Winner-Take-All America entitlement mentality) it's no surprise. And OF COURSE any problems will be the result of racism, nativism, etc. There was a totally incoherent op-ed piece in the New Haven Register the other day, berating the different attitudes the English-language Register and Spanish-language Registro have towards illegal immigration. At the top of the piece was a disclaimer saying that although the papers have the same owner they each set their own editorial policies. Didn't matter to this guy though.
