Of course that ignores two fairly well-known things:

1) (As my post pointed out in mentioning the examples of China, India, etc.), literally hundreds of millions are advancing into the ranks of 'Middle Class' around the world. (so, more and more countries move into the ranks of the 'developed' all the time.)

2) A widely observed demographic 'wealth effect' is also playing out in society after society --- with increasing WEALTH comes lowered birth rates.

I doubt that the RICH are ever going to be 'marginalized'... but 'the West'? (that might be a different question).
