I don't know what hoover did other than what I have read on chromatics webpage - he references rothbard a lot - he says hoover tried to inflate and did but the banks would not loan out the money - but as bart13 is trying to show - chromatic said it was around a 10 percent mild deflation based on chromatics read of rothbard and bart is saying it was higher - and so the grapevine strings along - hehe. The link you posted was interesting.

friedman and other monetary historians may have other insights into this - its like on kudlow last week when we had the big rally - you had 6 experts on - half saying we are in a new bull - half saying we are entering a new bear - all very learned and educated and experienced men - all with different viewpoints of very current market moves - it is fascinating that so many smart people can vary so tremendously on the immediate future. To me that means the system is too complex to predict - and my grandpa said KISS.

Hoover attempted to add liquidity, but was unsuccessful, and therefore he should not be associated/blamed/remembered/castigated because a liquidity contraction occurred. If so, fair enough.

I guess it comes down to whose books and whose interpretation of History you wish to follow -- Well said.

I guess most of you guys are here to make money and not just for pure knowledge or entertainment like some of us - in that regard it would be very helpful to really learn what did happen back then from many different viewpoints and historical accounts.
