AFBIX -- which tracks junk spreads -- has been one of the very few successful bearish bets this year.

Really surged today -- probably anticipating the Bear Stearns news

I suspect lots of other bearish bets will nicely green by fall.

All Mortgage Tranches Take a Hit
globaleconomicanalysis.blogspot.com

The mortgage mess that is supposedly contained has now spread to 3 continents and all 15 mortgage tranches. Even the top rated AAA tranche is taking a hit. The bottom tranches are now worthless. CNN Money and the Wall Street Journal are reporting that Bear Stearns told investors that the portfolios' assets of its subprime funds a almost worthless.

Gold and the yen rallying strongly today.

Still not nearly enough to write "finis" to the bull. but a good start IMHO.

Gold above $720 and/ or the yen above 86 could totally reverse the bull stampede IMHO.
