knighty, the politics of jesus sounds like an interesting read.

when i read the following:

1Jo 4:8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.

Ro 13:10 Love does no harm to its neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

i must logically conclude that one of those two statements is false or those (nearly everyone) who teach eternal hellfire aren't relaying the truth.

i believe the two statements to be true, so the hellfire squawkers have been put to the curb in my book.

in the end, god's character and value system are his most precious characteristics, and the hellfire doctrine portrays him as nothing short of vindictive and sadastic. you'd think folks would spend an awful lot of time contemplating an idea that may well slander god's good character instead of misinterpretting a non relevant parable to proof text their agenda (while ignoring over a hundred relevant and directly contradictory scriptures).

we each have our own walk and i doubt any two people will agree on most stuff, let alone all stuff. what is important, imho, is to agree to work harder to care for others more closely to how we care for ourselves.

it is hard work, but in a billion years, this practice will still be relevant, imho.
