Not quite...god gave those territories to them but he said not to "annex" them. It is in the bible someplace.

That could be the correct interpretation of the bible. It does say that the Jews would live in the land of milk and honey. It didn't say they would rule in the land of milk and honey.

I've thought the land of milk and honey was more likely Wisconsin or New Jersey. How anyone would consider a desert to be a land of milk and honey is a puzzle.
