What if the colonial powers had created a Pal country

The Brits tried to do just that. They tried to create an Arab Pal country where there had been no country before. But the Arabs of Palestine did not think of themselves as a country back then, and the Mufti kept them from organizing by assassinating his opposition. So when war came close in 1947, the entire leadership class of Arab Palestine just ran away to Cairo and Beirut.
