I think fans of all sports can complain too if they remain vocal in their disapproval of the use of performance enhancing drugs. Granted if the league & owners continue to turn a blind eye & don't take concrete action, then folks like us need to walk away from that sport until they do.

RE: Prednisone: Right now I'm on Medrol. It's a lot stronger than Prednisone (I was on 10 mg a day - 2x on bad days), but I take 4 mg of Medrol (2x on bad days). I tried taking it every other day, but the pain on the off day was intolerable, so I had to go back to daily doses.

I wouldn't recommend that anyone turn to any steroid unless they can't get relief from all of the other medications available. In my case, even with the Medrol, plus 200-400 mg Celebrex, plus 30 mg Cymbalta, plus bi-weekly injections of Humira, I still have a lot of inflammation & pain (my inflammatory markers remain off the charts). Despite the potential harmful side effects of steriods (and Celebrix too), it's a quality of life issue for me. Without them I'd be bedridden most of the time, so who cares what may happen to me in 15-20 years from long term use?

Again, the only reason I take Medrol is because it's the only medicine that provided any relief besides Celebrex (but that was only minor at best - the only way I knew Celebrex helped at all was that I felt even worse when I quit taking it).
