Because it IS and has been for decades!! Any road to stability in the ME depends on this speck being stable. You do agree that stability in the ME is in all our best interests??

Like it or not, we have put ourselves front and center in the mess that currently exists in the ME. Our incredibly biased support for Israel, our troop presence in Iraq and our hypocritical cozying up to the Saudis are not going away. Also, in case you forgot, we're currently banging the war drums for action in Iran. These situations, bizarre as they may be, are not going away no matter how much you or I disagree with them.

Why would improving our already positive relations with China improve our standing in the rest of the world?
