A Cold War is one of provocation and retribution. This goes on until usually something escalates to such a level it gets out of hand. First the Brits throw out Russian diplomats, then, yesterday, bombers take off from Russia and approached British airspace. British fighters scrambled to engage the bombers. This actually happened yesterday. What if either in its GPS accuracy failed, and airspace was assumed to have been penetrated? That is what a cold war is all about.
