Scotch it? Not unless Teachers think they are getting such a bargain on the share price that they can afford to pony up a bit more and replace the existing bonds with new confetti, which in itself assumes that there are enough dumbshits around to buy them at reasonable (to Teachers) coupons. Which there probably are. Personally I don't know what Teachers wants with Ma Bell and her dinosaur landlines and payphones anyway. I know a lot of Bell engineering people from my baseball days and based on the stories I hear I wouldn't touch it with a 10-foot pole
