What I find hard to swallow is the odds of it happening the way this person alleges. This soldier observes a series of outrageous, even illegal actions among the troops he is assigned to. Rather than report it simply to avoid being punished himself when this out of control group finally does get caught, he instead writes & is paid handsomely for writing about "Shock Troops" in a left wing rag. Ya right! Each of the instances were witnessed by a large number of people, far too many for a large scale cover up/conspiracy to fully silence every possible witness except the author? Sure it did.... NOT! There's only one decent person in this whole platoon? Everyone else is an out of control, raving lunatic that gleefully participates in these outrageous, immoral & illegal actions? If that's not straight out of a LWE Hollywood fantasy script I'll eat my hat. The incident in the huge "chow hall" was so outrageous that at least one nearby military officer would have immediately taken swift action or a non-officer reporting it to the proper authorities. Besides, how many people would remain in Iraq after having their face severely disfigured by an IED? The incident where they desecrated the corpses of a mass grave with one asshole wearing a child's skull on his head all day & all night, plus while on a mission? Give me a break! How many other people would have witnessed that? And once the mass grave was discovered, experts would have quickly determined it had been desecrated. And there would have been clear evidence of the "Shock Troops" outpost they were building right on that precise site! And the dog killing Bradely driver who intentionally drives recklessly of causing as much destruction--and killing as many stray dogs--as possible? I guess everyone in that platoon had a death wish & every last one of them hated dogs just as much as the idiot running them over? And no witnesses, including Iraqi's who had their property destroyed ever saw or reported this reckless driving? Sorry, but that's just way too much for me to swallow.
