Hmmm. It is true, reasonably informed persons should know most of the violence is over sectarian disputation. It is also true that radicals are actively fueling every kind of discord, even where it doesn't directly concern them. I'm sure Bush took into account how informed most reasonable people are when he made that comment. I don't see how one truth avoids the other. His statement doesn't attempt to deny the sectarian strife IMO. Your question was 'how does Bush know', which seems kind of silly, since reasonably informed people also know Bush has access to the best intel in the world Kenneth...and that is how Bush would know whatever he knows.
