I agree with Whatnot. The "deal" gives them assurances that their importation of new phones not covered by grandfathering would not be restricted for the Christmas season. A workaround implemented before then (or I presume intervention by the Prez) gets them completely off the hook, but if the workaround complicates their certification of new phones they have the right to use the BRCM patent. Probably cheap insurance on their part since the certification process would likely eat up a couple of million dollars. QCOM stock isn't liking this announcement very much though.
