Thanks, that has helped a lot. I got a lot more help than I had any reason to expect. Sort of restored my faith in humanity-lol. I did have one funny experience (not funny at the time): I had only been out of surgery for less than 24 hours and had no idea what I could and could not do; and was still hooked up to both an IV and had a catheter in me. I was feeling a need to relieve myslf (quickly-lol) and the bath room was very very small (no room for the IV, walker and nothing to hold on to; and a large square sink jutting out in front of the door. Anyway they had to find a raised portable raised toilet seat which they were rushing around to find and in the meantime I was dragging all of this stuff into the bathroom with much of it trailing out the door. Catheter bag just lying on the floor right outside the open door ( no room-lol). Just as I sit down (crushing the cathetor into me-lol) and with the IV half pulled out of my hand and all of the IV equipment and urine bag trailing out the bathroom door, sirens started going off proclaiming an emergency and everyone was to quickly evacuate the hospital. And the sirens and vocal instructions went on and on and on. It sounded like a nuclear attack. So here I am sitting in this tiny bathroom (tiny, tiny), with my IV half pullled out of my hand and my cathetor crushing me and everyone had deserted me and closed my door. I did not even know if it ws OK to sit down on my rump, let alone stand. And everything had been going so well-lol. Luckily I had made friends with this one nice seasoned nurse and I yelled at someone to please get her. I then just stood up (devil make care attitude), ripped off all of my clothing and when the nurse came in, and with me standing there buck naked, begged her to take out the catheter. To her it was just another normal day at the office (thank god), she took it right out, telling me to take slow deep breaths-lol) and we laughed about it the rest of my stay.
