"I always thought we should have chopped Iraq up."

It is not up to us to do *anything* to Iraq --- we don't own the place (unless we want to formally annex it....)

It is up to the folks actually LIVING THERE to decide if they want one 'Iraq' (or two or three....)

Looks highly likely though (since Kurdistan is practically de facto independent already --- they won't even allow an Iraqi flag to fly *anywhere* within their Kurdish borders, for Crimminey's sake... it's actually a CRIME. That should be a dead give-away), that a break-up is in the cards.

Likely the ONLY reason the Southern, Shiite half of Iraq hasn't declared independence so far is that they first want to kick the Sunnis' butts... drive them off of their lands around Baghdad, and EXPAND the territory for 'Shia Iraq' before they formalize it.
