(Just like having the US military fighting Sunni insurgents and ex-Bathists in Iraq tickles the fancy of the Shiite Iraqi government, and Iran :-), the US assuming a heavy load to reverse field and support the Sunni insurgents against the very same Shiite government that we put into power would please the Hell out of the Saudis... because it would mean that they had suckered someone else into carrying the load for them, doing the bleeding for them, and footing the bills for them.) And Uncle Sammy would just be a sock puppet....
