I do like ideas and when I see wonky things, I like to ask people why they think them to see if they have any basis for their beliefs. Plus ideas are interesting and lead to good things. No ideas = no progress. A large proportion of ideas are simply wrong = such as all human populations have the same average height, intelligence, skin colour, and all the other megamillions of DNA variables.

Usually, they are simply wrong. But sometimes, they have good points and I change my mind. Ashley Mullen is one of the more reasonable knowledgeable thinking people and if he think something different from me, I suspect I might have it wrong and have had.

For example, I knew humans were putting out a lot of CO2, but I didn't think it was sufficient to be significant. Now I agree it is significant. I still don't think it's at problem levels or likely to get to them. So far, I think it's an improvement.

A common mistake is to think that the natural world is automatically good for us. It isn't. For the most part, it isn't. Hence we build houses to keep nature outside.

I checked "gadfly" at dictionary.com and it's on the mark. Good call. If the shoe fits, wear it. I admit to deliberate provocation at times - trolling even.
