To expect others to be like them is no more realistic than to expect everyone to have the same workout discipline as an NBA or Olympics athlete

No, I don't expect everyone to be like them. Nor do I expect everyone to be able to succeed in life. In a free country, you're also free to be poor.

courage to leave their homeland and family and friends behind to strive for a better future"

if you are starving or no chance of any future it doesn't take much courage to leave. Besides mostof the these do not leave friends and family behind. they are joining friends and family or at least where they go are similiar citizens from their country.
