The Washington battles are all about power politics. There is little integrity in the process. The politics of defeat now going on in Washington are a perfect example. The only thing that counts now is timing relating to the 2008 election. The Dems are in an absolute panic to move the defeat and withdraw, away from the 2008 election.

Really is crazy. Chinese companies can drill offshore Cuba just miles from Florida coast but the whole eastern GOM is offlimits for American companies. Ditto with Canada, drilling is fine just over ANWR's eastern border and offshore Canada's maritime provinces.
