I take your point. It's called the Consumer Price Index, not the inflation index. The CPI is a very rough estimate of inflation. But it makes no sense to take key components of the CPI out it and tell us that this proves we have no inflation here. It is a fact that the Consumer Price Index is rising significantly. What does that mean? It means bad news for incumbent politicians.

Everybody combines the two and calls them "inflation" because it's easier than being precise.

What's this? LB fussing about a failure to differentiate? I must be in the twilight zone... <g>
