To me that certainly defines a difference between the two. Yes, it certainly defines a difference between the two. And I addressed it several times. Here's the mention at the top of the discussion: "It seems to me that the distinction between Christian martyrs and Islamist martyrs is that the former is nonviolent and passive in achieving death and the latter is violent and active in achieving death. So we have active vs. passive martyrs and violent vs. non-violent martyrs. " So why are you revisiting it with your bizarre question? Perhaps you were, er, speed reading and missed my point. I'll assume that it was just an oversight on your part.

KLP, you realy need to r-e-a-d what Lane3 says before accusing her of anything. This attack on her is not justified. She's no leftist, but a very highly educated person who uses language carefully. She sees a distinction, not equality, between Christian martyrs and shaheeds, but she also sees the one obvious connection, i.e., that both are willing to die for their religion. The critical distinction, which she set forth in painful detail, is that shaheeds are aggressive and violent martyrs. They have no problem killing innocents when they engage in their martyrdom. This of course robs them of any moral high ground. This whole idea that Lane3 gives equality to Christian martyrs and shaheeds is off base. I am sorry to see that clothing her in some imaginary leftist cloak is becoming the folklore of the day.
