It is with great sadness we receive the news of this Philipino's untimely demise! His visionary work on his theory of epithermal domes, faults and occurence of gold was proven beyond a shadow of a doubt in our minds.

His legacy, Busang II/III will bear his indelible stamp in geological annals. We shareholders owe him a huge debt of gratitude. His new ringside seat will allow him to oversee this project in an enviable way.

Our prayers and condolences to his co-workers, his family, and his progeny in years to come.

I followed the Bigdude link, and discovered the Bre-X board circa 1997. Ten years ago all my investments were in tech stocks, I'd never bought a Canadian stock, and although I saw references to "Bre-X scandal" occasionally", I had no idea what it was all about. It was fascinating to follow the posts on that board and see the different reactions as info started to leak out. Those (like Bigdude) who quickly saw that something was rotten and advised people to sell were subject to abuse, innuendo about shorting, and suspicions about who they were working for from the true believers. I stopped reading the posts at about #9200, with another 19000 to go. Fascinating story. Amazing that nobody was prosecuted (according to Wikipedia). Of all the posters' names that I saw, I recognized only marcos and Bearcatbob. Either the rest quit the PM boards on SI, or they changed their names - for obvious reasons.
