Have no idea if that is true,

I have always believed that all the "hoo-haa" about various brands of gas were "marketing."

Gasolines used to all additize at the refineries. today it is all over the place and not sure what is happening. i know many stations blend premium and regular grade gasoline at the pump and do not store a middle grade gasoline. this eliminates storage of mid grade at terminals, prevents chance of run out of one grade of gasoline and force a less than full truck load of gas for delivery, gives max flexibility for storage for trucks to come at will and drop off full loads of gasoline a huge transportation savings.

If you are using a terminal agreement with another competitor and it is one that is on going you will install your own additive package to be injected into the tank truck during loading.

Best place to find out which oil companies have listed with top tier is go there as pointed out. You should really only be concerned about gas additives if you are going to keep your car for some years otherwise if your engine parts accumulate varnish build up etc it cost you a lot more money than buying a decent gas or adding an engine additive.

some terminals may be delivery three different blends of regular gasoline due to epa regulations if the territory is country zone, city zone and maybe cross some state lines. this may result in generic gas to terminals and they now blend to meet local codes?
