Yes. Just like they stole the Sistine Chapel after Michelangelo...

This is silly.

There are numerous examples like this, you cannot pretend that there aren't. Artists will create, regardless. But, to put food on the table, they often have to compromise their vision. What the grants allow is for them to do something they have the vision for, but not the funds. Because the art world shouldn't be dominated by black velvet paintings of Elvis or paintings of dogs playing cards.
