But in years 1-3 and I suspect also 4 it was generally only the wiseguys doing it -- nowadays up here near the top, it's the clowns and all their cousins. I was quite intrigued by that post elsewhere on the weekend speculating that a lot of pros are shorting against the box and doing short call/long put combinations here with the intent of collecting 3 ways by liquidating their long stock to drive prices down to their short call strikes. Just another day at the office on the street when it happens I know, but one of these times these stunts are going to snowball into something that gets away from them. As for where/when this next tipping point might go live, have you seen any credible predictions for anything higher than ~SPX 1640 this summer? If not, anything over 1600 might be a good place to be sticking your neck out against the wind and start joining the dark side
