""I really did favor NC State," Whitley said"

I honestly think that this young man chose between the best two schools in the ACC. I went down to Raleigh two years ago when VT played State in the season opener and came away with a deep appreciation for the State fans and football program.

This young man has character.....if for no other reason than his boiling his choice down to the two schools ..

I abhor the damage that the two Vick brothers have done to the reputation of VT as a university. So much more shall the decent alums and students work to repair the damage these two thugs have done.

It makes one wonder if we did not pay a price on 4/16/2007 for tolerating these two thugs for too many years,( along with too many offenses of athletes across the entire athletic program especially the football team ) making excuses for them, and in effect contributing to the consequences for placing too high an importance on athletic performance instead of old fashioned character and decency.

Evil will rear its head in any possible circumstance in areas that would seem totally unrelated to the offense. The innocent will usually be the ones to pay the price or most of the price it seems..

Forgive me for rambling but it does make one wonder..

Go Hokies.....

Just a reminder...this is next Saturday.

BRISTOL, Conn. -- ESPN's College GameDay opens its football season in Blacksburg, Va., when East Carolina visits Virginia Tech on Sept. 1.

"Virginia Tech is a special place, and the community is one of the most respectful and passionate we have visited," ESPN vice president Norby Williamson said. "Our coverage will be considerate of the emotional day facing the students, faculty, and people of Blacksburg and the country."

On April 16, 23-year-old student Seung-Hui Cho killed 32 people on campus before committing suicide in a classroom building.

"Every time College GameDay has come to Blacksburg it has been exciting," Virginia Tech football coach Frank Beamer said. "This time, I think there will be a greater togetherness than ever before."
