He is wrong about capers, though. They are not imaginary. I have a jar in my pantry that came from our first house. That would make them 28 years old. I have never found a use for them. They are very strange looking, like big green mouse droppings.
Now they are part of the family and we could never eat them. We just move the jar with us like a Roman household god.

LOL He's so prolific, with such an imagination.

I would have preferred the Three Musketeers bars to my mother's rib steaks. She butchered them for a second time by frying them well done and called it "our monthly treat."

And her idea of stew was cut up cabbage, cut up carrot, cut up onion and water. Boil, then simmer for an hour.
