re: I consider the export of Wahhabi Islam by Saudi Arabia to be the primary root cause of many of the problems we are seeing which only accelerated in the vacuum following the Soviet Union. Describing the threat today as modern terrorism maybe somewhat arbitrary, but it denotes problems that have reached a new level of prevalence and danger.

Why do you think that?

There have only been two major foreign terrorists attacks on US soil in our history; both planned by the same guy (who is still lose which is a problem). On was 14 years ago, the other 6 years ago. Now I guess someone could see a trend there, but the frequency doesn't exactly pop out at you.

What do you think is the root cause of the Saudi Wahhabi's wanting to attack us?

And just curious what do you mean "which only accelerated in the vacuum following the Soviet Union"? The only vacuum I can see is the need for an American enemy. After the cold war was over, the search was on....

Oh screw that, even with Al-Qaida running around, we're still much safer than we were a couple of decades before.

Case in point: I'm not quite 30, and I've never had to participate in an air-raid drill.
