The atmosphere is aggressive. In speaking with other parents, our experience is pretty common. The teachers do not put kids in the corner or in 'time out' for hitting, but rather, kids are encouraged to defend themselves and hit back. In general, we are not overly impressed with the system as a whole. After looking at studies like the PISA study, we are not sure why we expected much. For some reason, many people believe that Europeans are much better educated than Americans, and from experience, we have not found that to be true.
