Thanks for the links. I'm not too far into Novak's book, a little bogged down in job related reading of periodicals. What I've gathered so far is yes, he's tough with some people, but he's just as tough on himself. A rare trait in Washington to be sure. Was surprised to find out he had a rapport with JFK and thought highly of him.

As for those two writers, hadn't heard of Zmirak before, just happened to stumble across him because of the subject matter. I like Navrozov though. That may not have been one of his better pieces. His latest piece, which isn't online yet, discusses the virtues of idleness. I guess he's not for everybody. <g>
