Jspeed - AMD Barcelona Yields

Nice catch. They claim <0.50 defect/cm2. Let's just call it 0.45 to be generous.

Use this calculator, which has been the standard for us:

icknowledge.com

Barcelona is 283mm^2, so 16.823 on a side. Use 300mm wafers, and 0.45 defect/cm2:

AMD's yields are 32%. Aweful, and yet this is above their usual past yields, according to slide 159. Elmer has been right all along.

Thanks, AMD, for this valuable piece of data.

The D0 is in defects per cm2. So to convert to per in2, you need to multiply by (2.54cm/in)^2 which gives you a D0 of 3.23/in2
