Be sure you use at least three nice size onions, once the onions are nicely caramelized the onions will sweeten the lemon juice... the lemon juice first deglazes the pan, and then as you continue to cook it all with the chicken placed back into the pan, the liquid reduces down to a nice sweet lemon onion sauce, this is a flavor I have never experience before in my life... you might try using 3/4 of a cup, that should work too, but not less than that, you can't be timid with this dish, just be sure the chicken is seasoned when you first cook it before you put the onions into the pan...
