If AMD uses "that" heatsink for FX74 which are 120/130W and if AMD uses 5 extra case fans, you could easily assume, that you can put away 150-160W instead of 120 or 130W. Its that easy.

IF they used say a CoolerMaster GeminiII or Thermalright Utlra-120 or Scythe Infiniti cooler, then I would have agreed with you.

You can't have a CPU worked properly if it doesn't meet some TDP specifications no matter how many extra fans are you going to use in a case.

Those extra 5 or more fans (side panel?) are mostly to dissipate power from video cards (R600) and obviously the system like they used is needed a good cooling approach. Even for C2D.

BUGGI - You think they'd risk overloading a HSF in a hands-on demo? You think they'd be willing to take the consequences of a public system crash? Not. Besides, Doug was talking 180W, not 150-160W, but I don't believe they'd chance overloading the HSF at all in a public hands-on demo.
