But honestly tell me this. How often has the truth been
better than AMD claimed?

In fairness, AMD has occasionally had positive earnings
surprises. But in every other respect (performance,
timing, competitive position relative to Intel, etc.),
you have to admit that AMD's claims can pretty reliably
be used as an upper bound on the truth.

And as Doug remarks, if two people from AMD say differing
things, you can be pretty sure that the less rosy
forecast is more accurate.
