I think the main new ground he covers is the Kurdish POV.
At least so far. There is a lot of old stuff, although Galbraith is a more incisive write than most.

My guess is that he will get into more new ground in last couple of chapters, where he will outline his proposed solution to the conundrum that is Iraq--the "Three State Solution." If you've heard Biden talk about his solution, it won't be all that new to you, though. I think Biden gets his proposed policy from Galbraith.
